Cabo San Lucas Guided Surf-Fishing

Shore Fishing

Shore Fishing in Cabo

Explore Baja’s wild coastline with local watermen on an easy, family-friendly shore-fishing adventure. Our guided beach sessions put you where roosterfish, jacks and mahi-mahi hunt the surf – a great option for anglers who prefer casting from shore, scout-style trolling or learning local surf-fishing techniques.

Why Cabo is exceptional for shore fishing

The Baja peninsula and the Gulf of California support exceptionally rich marine life – the region hosts well over 800 fish species, creating enormous variety for anglers from shore and surf. Shorelines here feature rocky points, sandy beaches and tidal structure that concentrate bait and predators close enough to reach with a rod.

What species you can expect to catch

Common targets on shore trips include roosterfish (a classic surf predator), jack crevalle and other jacks, and seasonal visitors like dorado (mahi-mahi) and small tunas depending on currents and bait. Your guide will prioritize spots and techniques that maximize your chance at the species most active that day.

Cabo San Lucas Shore Fishing
How we fish from shore – methods and technique

Guides teach and demonstrate practical surf techniques – casting to breaking water, working sandbar gutters, topwater retrieves for roosterfish and jacks, and light down-rigging when bait schools are visible. We adapt to conditions: if a bait line moves offshore we may switch to a short boat assist to get you into the strike zone. Local methods, safety and respect for private property/eco-zones are always observed.

Safety, conservation & responsible angling

We follow catch-and-release best practices for sport species when requested, use circle hooks where appropriate, and enforce local rules and protected area boundaries. Respect for the marine environment and local fishing communities is central – guided fees and permits help support local stewardship.

What to bring
  • Lightweight, sun-protective clothing and a hat
  • Sturdy sandals or closed-toe water shoes for rocks and wet sand
  • Reef-safe sunscreen and polarized sunglasses for spotting fish
  • Camera, small daypack and any personal medications
  • Small amount of cash for tips or local crafts
Who this shore fishing trip is best for

Perfect for anglers who want an accessible fishing day without a full boat charter – families, mixed-skill groups, and photographers who enjoy shoreline wildlife and scenic coastal vistas. Experienced anglers also find shore sessions rewarding when local conditions concentrate fish close to the rocks and surf.

Booking, pickup & cancellation

Pickup locations and exact meeting times are confirmed at booking. Early morning departures are recommended in high season. Cancellation and change policies vary by rate – check terms at reservation. Private shore-fishing lessons and multi-day packages are available on request.
